Frequently Asked Questions
One of the primary materials used in Kovix locks is hardened steel. Hardened steel is exceptionally tough and resistant to cutting, drilling, and sawing, making it an ideal choice for high-security applications. Kovix locks often feature hardened steel shackles or locking mechanisms to deter thieves and withstand various physical attacks. In addition to hardened steel, Kovix locks may incorporate other materials for enhanced security and durability. These may include: 304 Stainless steel which is known for its excellent corrosion resistance properties. It is often used in the construction of padlock bodies or other external components to provide resistance against harsh environmental conditions and maintain the lock's integrity over time. Zinc Alloy is also what some of our Kovix locks may feature including components, such as the lock housing or protective covers. Zinc alloy offers a balance between strength and lightweight construction, ensuring a sturdy and manageable lock.
Our Kovix Locks use a Lithium CR2 battery that typically last between 1 to 5 years, depending on factors like usage patterns, and storage conditions. Higher usage and power demands can drain the battery faster, while quality brands may offer better longevity. Storage in a cool, dry place helps preserve the battery. CR2 batteries provide consistent power until depletion rather than gradual decline. Lithium CR2 batteries are commonly avaliable at leading supermarkets and warehouses across Australia.
Encountering a stuck padlock or coupling lock can be quite frustrating, but there are steps you can take to resolve this issue. Firstly, remain calm and avoid using excessive force, as it can further jam the lock. Begin by examining the key for any signs of damage or wear. If the key is in good condition, try applying a lubricant specifically designed for locks. Graphite-based lubricants or silicone sprays are commonly recommended. Carefully insert the key or turn the dial while gently wiggling it to loosen any stuck parts. If the padlock or coupling lock remains stuck, avoid resorting to extreme measures like hitting or prying it open, as this can damage the lock or surrounding equipment. Instead, consider seeking the assistance of a professional locksmith or contacting the manufacturer of the lock. They will have the necessary expertise and tools to safely resolve the issue. In situations where the stuck padlock or coupling lock hampers the functionality of a vehicle or impedes access to important equipment, it becomes even more crucial to seek professional help. Locksmiths or manufacturers can provide targeted advice or dispatch a trained technician to assist you promptly and efficiently.
